Confused but grateful

We're all home safe and sound from our US road trip now, except for the sneaky feeling I have that my apartment, ahem I mean, flat, is perambulating up some American freeway.

This tour was the biggest and best we've ever done, with some wonderful opening bands (the elegance, restraint, and musicality of Vetiver in particular, while initially inspiring, slowly became breathtaking as the nights wore on). But everyone we played with was great; we were extremely lucky to have Field Music and The Wooden Birds; and I still can't believe Liam Hayes opened for us in Chicago, as well as The Mad Scene in New York. We also got to be on TV, caked in make up and hair wax - it was like Romo had never gone away.

So thank you for coming out, if you did come out. We'll hopefully see you again before too long.

And now to mail order a breakfast burrito, as well as vow in writing never to fly Delta Airlines again (I hope we get a decent royalty for the fact they use our music as in-flight entertainment, it may offset how badly they gouged us on every charge they could invent, in both directions)

ps the silkscreened poster above, inspired by the song 'Harvest Time', is available from Piecemaker Design

Unfortunately, the video of the Jimmy Fallon TV appearance won't play outside of the U.S. Guess we'll just have to close our eyes and imagine Alasdair channelling Steve Strange...

A little bird tells me that the Fallon show is available if you sign up to http://theclienteleforum.co.uk ...

The Minneapolis show was just incredible - sounded tight as a drum, clear as a bell... please come back soon. Things are definitely and undeniably happening for The Clientele stateside.

@speedyvespa:

Thanks for the tip. I would love to register for said forum, but have given up after 5 rejections by the anti-bot gatekeeper.

I am clearly dimmer than a web-crawling bot.

@smfifteen - I think you should be able to log in, someone called smfifteen is newly approved. These little birds are so well informed.

Alasdair - Thank you for that wonderful show in Chicago a few weeks ago. It was my first time seeing The Clientele and I was emotionally invested in every minute of it. Now I'm revisting (and being inspired by) your entire catalog like a favorite book of poems. I hope you stay in the "business" of creating for a very long time. Jason

Really enjoyed your Boston show. Thank you for coming over.

Great show in Boston. Always a pleasure when the band stops by. Please return in October. The New England autumnal season would serve as beautiful backdrop to "Bonfires" and the rest of your music.

I drove to see you in Birmingham, AL, and it was worth it. Thanks for the great show!

I saw the Chicago show and all 3 bands were amazing. It was the 4th time I had seen you guys (once for Strange, twice for God Save) and it was by far the best. The perfect setlist and sound was matched by a respectful - thankfully - crowd.

Your announcement of Alex Chilton's untimely death was a complete shock and something I won't soon forget. However, bringing Pat Sansone up on stage to play both Big Star and Clientele songs was pure bliss.

I really, really, really hope you guys do not break up and am eagerly hoping you return to Chicago! You guys will, of course, never be superstars but I think The Clientele makes a lot of people's days/weeks/months much brighter and more tolerable.

Cheers!

hi, this is not actually a comment, so please don't post it. it is rather an invitation. would you like to participate in this project in paris? http://www.lamaisonrouge.org/faceb/liste/index/ proposing a record list like others (ubuweb, the wire, mc sweeney's etc) have done?
e-mail for details if yes.
cheers.
