I have a t-shirt from a roadside diner in Memphis called "Loveless". When worn it consistently evokes sympathetic gestures of all kinds from random people although I try not to wear it on days (which are reasonably few) when it might advertise my soul's coloring a bit too vividly.
I once asked a friend from London why all the best music that's ever existed (and I don't think this is debatable) came/comes from England, and without skipping a beat she said, "Shakespeare". I thought that was a nicely workable answer. So as to why there might be a surplus of sadness emanating from Tennessee one might say simply, "Elvis".
The actual image of the postcard is beautiful, however, wouldn't you say?
